Our walnut cutting board with staggered maple accent strips is a beautiful and functional kitchen piece. The rich, dark colour of the walnut pairs wonderfully with the light, creamy tones of maple. The staggered accent strips give the board a unique, visually interesting pattern, which can add an elegant touch to your kitchen.

The combination of walnut and maple provides both durability and a nice contrast in terms of color and grain. These cutting boards are handcrafted, with the different woods joined together using precise woodwork techniques such as edge-gluing. The added feature of the End Grain cutting board is how with the grain standing up on end it actually separates when the knife is in use and comes back together which in turn allows the edge of the knife to stay sharper longer.

All our cutting boards are sealed with food-grade mineral oil and two coats of bee’s wax; we will also send a complementary tin of our conditioner to get you started.

As always, wood is a natural product that grows and displays its grain with all its colours and imperfections. As hard as we try to make our products the best we can, Mother Nature has a mind of her own as to how she wants to be displayed. Therefore, variations in grain colour are to be expected.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Depending on how much you use the board, it will let you know when it needs to be re-conditioned. Proper maintenance of the board will keep it looking good and increase its life span and enjoyment from it.

1. After use, clean with soap and lukewarm water, pat dry, stand up on edge, and allow to dry.

2. After using it for some time, you will start to notice the colours start to appear dull. Clean as stated above and let dry and re-coat with the conditioner sent with your board. Apply with a soft, clean cloth, let sit for a few hours or overnight and wipe off excess oil with a clean, soft rag. Following these steps should bring your board back to the way it was when it first arrived.

3. Included in your purchase will be a tin of conditioner, along with an instruction care card repeating these instructions.
